DPD in search of aggravated assault suspect

On Wednesday, Dec. 26, Dyersburg Police received a call of an assault victim at West Tennessee Healthcare Emergency Room. Upon arrival, officers learned that the female victim was in critical condition from a head wound and was in the process of being transferred to Regional One in Memphis. Officers were able to determine that the assault had occurred in the 1300 block of Jones Street. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division assisted with interviewing witnesses and were able to determine that the victim was seated in the backseat of a vehicle in the street at the time of the assault. Witnesses stated that the suspect walked up to the car and swung an object that broke the rear passenger window and struck the female victim in the head. The suspect was identified as Nicholas Tucker, 29, of Newbern. Tucker has been charged with aggravated assault and vandalism under $1,000. The victim remains in critical condition at Regional One in Memphis. Dyersburg Police is asking that anyone with information about this case as well as the whereabouts of Tucker to please call the Criminal Investigation Division at 731-288-7679 or Crime Stoppers at 731-285-TIPS.

DFD responds to apartment fire

Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday evening, the Dyersburg Fire Department responded to a fire at the Perry Vincent Apartment Complex, located at 605 Lake Road. According to Dyersburg Fire Chief Brett Sipes, a total of 22 firemen from all three DFD stations responded to the blaze.
