Swift buzzer-beater clinches second straight tournament title

After missing a potential go-ahead free throw with 12.8 seconds left in the Milan Rebounders Club Christmas Tournament Championship Game on Saturday night in Milan, Dyer County junior point guard Tray Swift made up for that miss by hitting the game winner just over 10 seconds later as he sank a game-winning three-pointer to give the Choctaws a 62-65 win over Peabody to win the tournament for the second straight year.

Community Christmas Card initiative raises over $8,500

2 injured following Monday afternoon wreck in Dyersburg

On Monday, December 31 at 3:19 p.m., the Dyersburg Police Department responded to a 2-vehicle accident on Highway 51 Bypass North near the Upper Finley Road intersection. The 2 vehicles involved included a 2015 tractor-trailer owned by Performance Food Group of Richmond, Virginia and driven by Gary A. Love, 42, of Memphis as well as a 2002 tan Chevrolet Caviler driven by Dennis E. Sanders, 60, of Dyersburg. The Chevrolet also contained a passenger, Heather Sanders, 41, also of Dyersburg.
