Northview holds off CMS to advance to title game

After trailing by one heading into the half of Thursday night’s second TMSAA Small Area Girls Tournament semifinal at Lake County Middle School in Ridgely, the Northview girls battled through a back-and-forth third quarter to lead by one heading into the final frame and ended the game on a 10-4 run to get a 35-31 win over Crestview.

Life Choices annual Chuckles and Chocolate event to occur Feb. 21

Life Choices – Dyersburg will host an evening of laughter, desserts, and fun, as the organization will host its fourth annual Chuckles and Chocolates fundraising event on Thursday, Feb. 21. The event will occur at the Lannom Center, located at 2000 Commerce Ave. in Dyersburg, at 7 p.m. with a silent auction beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Sen. Jackson announces Dyer County to receive funds under re-entry incentive grant program

NASHVILLE – State Senator Ed Jackson (R-Jackson) said today that the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a grant under a new program, which aims to reduce recidivism in Tennessee jails. The grant came from legislation sponsored by Sen. Jackson last year authorizing $1 million to fund successful reentry pilot programs in four Tennessee counties.

Haslam issues final executive clemency grants

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today granted executive clemency to 23 current or former Tennesseans. “These individuals receiving pardons have made positive contributions to their communities and are worthy of the forgiveness that may help them restore their rights or obtain employment. Those receiving commutations will gain another chance to become contributing members of society,” Haslam said. “Clemency requires attempting to balance mercy and justice, and my legal team and I have taken this responsibility seriously during a thorough review of many cases.” Pardons were issued to the following individuals:
