Choctaw Aron Whittle signs with Arkansas State as a preferred walk-on

While many high school seniors throughout Tennessee and around the nation played their final football games last fall and some will continue their careers in college via scholarship, some players, like Aron Whittle will get a chance to keep playing by signing with colleges under preferred walk-on status as Whittle did this on Wednesday morning with Arkansas State.

Dyer County's Jefhry Taylor to play for Lindsey Wilson

After a senior season in which he was a major part of the Choctaw offense, Dyer County running back Jefhry Taylor signed on Wednesday to continue his football career at the college level as he is choosing to play at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Ky.

At the Shelter

The number of animals ready for adoption at the Shelter is 48. This is the least number of available adoptees for several weeks. The cats have been moved to the Nicole Inccroci Cat Sanctuary which is upstairs at the Shelter. As soon as possible, the Shelter will start receiving cats again. There will be a dedication ceremony for the Sanctuary in the near future...

Mrs. Ruby Hill Austill, 82 of Millington, passed away on the afternoon of January 28, 2019. Mrs. Austill was the owner of R & M Janitorial Services and a member of the Pentecostal Church of God. City department heads provide updates for Dyersburg board members

On Wednesday, Feb. 6, new Dyersburg aldermen and alderwomen were given an opportunity to meet with various city department heads during an informal, come-and-go style meeting held at City Hall from 10 a.m.–noon. The department heads provided updates of city projects, their departments, and answered any questions board members may have had. The meeting was held for informational purposes only, and no action was taken.
