Shooting woes, turnovers doom Lady Trojans in semifinals

A combination of 13 turnovers and a 28-percent night of shooting from the field brought the Lady Trojans’ quest for the District 13AA Tournament Championship to an end on Thursday night as Crockett County pulled away in the second half to take the 44-29 win over Dyersburg in the tournament semifinals.

Dyersburg BZA hears fencing appeal from business owner

On Thursday, Feb. 14 at 10 a.m., members of the City of Dyersburg Board of Zoning Appeals convened inside the office of the city’s Codes Department, located at the Lyman Ingram building on West Market Street. The lone item of new business on the agenda was an appeal from a warehousing business owner of the interpretation of the Dyersburg Zoning Ordinance (BB647 Sect. E – Fences, Walls and Hedges) not allowing discarded shipping containers to be used as perimeter fencing.

Community resources fair held at library

On Monday, Feb. 11, approximately 20-25 Dyersburg and Dyer County charitable organizations, neighborhood civic clubs, volunteer groups, as well as state and local funded institutions attended the McIver’s Grant Public Library’s Community Resources Fair. The event occurred from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event was intended to raise community awareness regarding the hard work and outreach projects local residents are engaged with.

Young artist and Dyersburg State Community College graduate Ashley Sandlin Smith has a knack for art. With a specific interest in anime, the 26-year-old has a style all her own, expressing a multitude of scenes and emotions through simple strokes of pencil and brush.

South Main structure fire does not deter proposed indoor shooting range

On Tuesday morning, Feb. 12, the Dyersburg Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1190 South Main Ave. in South Dyersburg. The structure, owned by Monte Warne, has been undergoing preparations to potentially become Dyersburg’s first indoor shooting range.
