Recently, local resident Jackie Norman received the phone call of a lifetime from a man claiming she won a prize valued at $4.5 million from American Sweepstakes. Shortly into the conversation, Norman says realized she was being targeted in a scam, as the individual on the other line informed her she would have to load nearly $450 to an Amazon gift card before she would be eligible to collect her prize.

Newbern Depot opens this Sunday with new displays

The Newbern Depot Museum will be open this Sunday, March 10, from 12-2 p.m. The museum has new displays, including a new Lego city layout, and will operate three O-scale, and three HO-scale trains. There is no admission, but donations are accepted. The museum is located in downtown Newbern.

On Friday, March 8, Jose Luis Rubio-Servin, 26, of Dyersburg and Javier Nava Hernandez, 20, of Tiptonville, appeared before Judge Dean Dedmon in Dyersburg City Court for a preliminary hearing regarding the alleged aggravated rape of a 20-year old woman on January 14, 2019.
