More than 70 service projects completed during Mission Blitz

Choctaws bounce back with win over Munford in District 13AAA

Trojans win two, fall in 13AA semifinals

The Trojans got their journey through the District 13AA brackets off to a positive start on Friday night in Martin as Dyersburg picked up a pair of postseason wins to open the tournament, defeating Obion County 2-1 in the first round then Westview 5-1 in the following game to move into the semifinals. But, in semifinal action, Dyersburg fell to a late South Gibson rally as the Hornets won on a walk-off, 7-6, in the bottom of the seventh.

Attempted murder suspect hospitalized following suspected overdose; jail refuses medical transport

Authorities of the Dyer County Jail refused to transport an inmate to the hospital for emergency medical care following a suspected overdose. Robert “Butch” Bevis, the man currently awaiting trial in the Dyer County Jail for three counts of attempted murder, was held for medical treatment at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg following the incident.

Citizens address concerns of transient-mobile vendor ordinance at Dyersburg board meeting

On Monday, May 6, the City of Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Alderpersons convened at 7 p.m. inside the Municipal Building Courtroom. With numerous items of new business on the agenda, the most discussed topic was during a public hearing of Ordinance BB672, an ordinance of the City of Dyersburg regulating the permitting and operations of Mobile or Transient Vendors, to include specific fees. Three local restaurateurs – Shawn Todd, Dave Dahl, and Shawntrail McKinney - shared their concerns of the ordinance with board members.

For the first time since 2006 and only the second time in the past 18 seasons, Dyer County’s baseball team will not advance past the district tournamnet level of the postseason as the Choctaws were unable to string their hits together into runs as the orange and white fell to Hardin County 2-0 in the District 13AAA semifinals on Monday night in Munford.

The ranking and the location might be a bit different than it has been in recent years, but the Lady Trojans find themselves in familiar territory in the District 13AA Tournament as Dyersburg battled back through the consolation bracket to earn as spot in the district championship game as the black and gold knocked off second-seeded Westview 5-3 in the semifinals on Monday night at Medina.
