Dyersburg Moose to hold fish fry for veterans and first responders

On Saturday, November 16, the Dyersburg Moose Lodge #441, located at 395 Country Club Road, will host a fish fry for all veterans and first responders from 12-2 p.m. Veterans and first responders will eat for free. Children 12 years old and under will be served for $5 per plate, while all other guests will be served at $10 per plate. Operation Christmas Child announces dates for collection week

Known as the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child aids in the effort of spreading love and joy throughout the world, using gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God’s love to children. Since 1993, the outreach has affected children and families around the globe and has brought together many local volunteers since the program’s inception in Dyer County in 2001. This year, Dyer County volunteers will once again begin to pack shoeboxes for the cause, as Operation Christmas Child has announced the organization’s collection week will be held November 18-23 with the drop-off location being Church Grove Baptist Church, located at 100 Main Street in Newbern.

Born October 29, 1928, he is the son of the late William Oscar and Mary Etta Cain Ables and step-father, Palmer Ables. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a member of Buck Tarpley’s Life Group. Mr. Ables proudly served his country in the Air Force. DPS students appear on ‘Inside Edition’

On Monday evening, November 11, Dyersburg Primary School second grade students appeared on television as part of a segment on Inside Edition. The segment, which closed the show, featured 8 elementary schools across the country singing patriotic tunes in honor of Veterans Day. DPS students were shown during the program singing ‘America the Beautiful’.
