Historical Society announces new monthly meeting time; DSCC to host presentation on history of college

The Dyer County Historical Society is moving its regular monthly meeting for the month of December. The Society usually meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the Professional Development Center. For December, the meeting is being changed to December 3, the first Tuesday of the month.

The Memphis Symphony Orchestra and Chorus are coming to Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) for one night only, bringing the Magic of Memphis Holiday Spectacular performance to the E.H. Lannom, Jr. Gymnasium Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The Memphis Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director Robert Moody, is composed of over 60 musicians consisting of strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. ...

Naming and departure ceremony for 168th Military Police Battalion held at National Guard

On Sunday afternoon, December 1, the naming and departure ceremony was held at the Dyersburg National Guard for the Dyersburg based 168th Military Police Battalion. Family, friends, and special guests were in attendance during the ceremony. The 168th is named the Task Force it will lead after 1st Lt. James Gardner, a Dyersburg native and a Medal of Honor recipient who was killed in action while deployed to Vietnam in 1966.
