Dyersburg Civitan holds dinner for special education teachers

On Tuesday, Dec. 3, the Dyersburg Civitan Club held their annual dinner for special education teachers at First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg. Special education instructors from both Dyer County and Dyersburg City school systems were treated to a meal of soup and sandwiches. The educators were also given an opportunity to win door prizes, which were provided by the Civitan Club, HCI Supply, and Lowe’s of Dyersburg. Above, the teachers in attendance were visited by Santa.

Donations now being accepted for Dyer County Giving Tree project

Now in its 5th year, the Dyer County Giving Tree project has provided warm clothes, hats, and gloves, for hundreds of children during the cold winter months. The annual event was founded by local resident Natalie Young, wife of Dyer County Mayor Chris Young. Natalie says she started the project as a way to honor the spirit of her mother, the late Mrs. Lou Allen.
