During Thursday afternoon’s COVID-19 update, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced that restaurants and retail outlets in 89 of the state’s 95 counties will be allowed to open at half their capacity next week, provided they follow certain guidelines.

Today, April 24, Gov. Bill Lee issued the first steps from the “Tennessee Pledge,” the state’s rollout of guidance and best practices for Tennessee businesses in 89 of the state’s 95 counties to keep employees and customers safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The first industries to receive guidance through the plan include the restaurant and retail industries.

Dyersburg, Dyer County graduations to be held May 15

Commencement Ceremonies for Dyersburg High School and Dyer County High School will take place on Friday, May 15. Dyer County’s ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in Choctaw Stadium, while Dyersburg’s ceremony will start at 8 p.m. in J.C. Sawyers Stadium.

Dept. of Health reports 30 COVID-19 cases in Dyer Co., 13 recoveries

At the most recent COVID-19 case update on Friday afternoon, the Tennessee Department of Health reported Dyer County had 30 confirmed cases of the virus as well as 13 recoveries and 481 negative test results.

On Friday morning, the Dyersburg Fire Department, as well as the Dyersburg Police Department and first responders were dispatched to a fire located at the Dyersburg Elevator Company.
