32 COVID-19 cases confirmed for Dyer County, 15 recoveries reported

Heading into the most recent weekend, Dyer County had 30 confirmed cases of COVID-19, according to the Tennessee Department of Health. The number of cases increased to 31 on Saturday, and during the update on Monday, April 27, the TDH added one more confirmed case to the county, resulting in 32 total cases of COVID-19 in Dyer County. Additionally, Monday’s update provided the number of recoveries, 15, and negative test results, 554 for Dyer County.

School systems announce kindergarten, pre-K registration plans

Recently, Dyer County Schools announced kindergarten registration plans, while Dyersburg City Schools announced dates for kindergarten and pre-K registration. Registration for kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year will take place on Thursday, April 30 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Registration will take place at all elementary schools at a designated location. Trusty escapes from Dyer County jail

The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance in the location of an inmate who walked away from his work-detail in Dyer County. Herman Parker, 28, left on foot from his trusty position at 2:12 p.m. on Sunday, April 19 at the Dyer County Jail. He is described as a black male, approximately 5’6” tall and 190 pounds. The inmate also has multiple tattoos on his arms and stomach.
