Gov. Lee issues Executive Order 30, outlines recommendations for returning to work

On Tuesday, April 28, Governor Bill Lee provided an update on Tennessee’s efforts regarding COVID-19. He issued Executive Order 30, which supersedes and repeals Executive Orders 17, 21, 22, 23, 27, and 29, that allows Tennesseans to return to work safely while encouraging continued adherence to health guidelines to limit the spread of the virus.

Dyersburg City Court issues release regarding suspension of May in-court appearances

The Supreme Court for the State of Tennessee has extended its suspension of in-court appearances through May 30, 2020. If you have received a citation or have a pending court case during the month of May, you will need to contact Dyersburg City Court at 731-288-2517.

Sells family files lawsuit against private investigator, others

On Tuesday, April 28, a joint lawsuit was filed on behalf of Darrell Sells, Dena Sells Quertermous, and Martin Bentley Quertermous against Heather Cohen, a private investigator from Nashville doing business as HMC Investigations, as well as Tracy D. Ellis and Mark Morgan.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee hospitals are experiencing a negative financial impact of approximately $1 billion per month due to the pandemic, according to an analysis conducted by the Tennessee Hospital Association (THA).

Governor Lee: hair salons, barber shops to reopen next Wednesday in most of state

During a teleconference with members of the Tennessee General Assembly, Gov. Bill Lee said most hair salons and barber shops in most of Tennessee will be allowed to open in one week under the guidance issued by the state’s COVID-19 Unified Command. Lee said that had been his plan, even though his most recent executive order, which came into effect today, suggested those establishments might remain closed through the end of May.

Dept. of Health reports 34 COVID-19 cases in Dyer County, recoveries increase to 17

Wednesday’s COVID-19 case update was released an hour later than normal on Wednesday afternoon, due to technical difficulties. Once the report was made available, the Tennessee Department of Health confirmed Dyer County had 34 cases of the virus, an increase of one from Tuesday afternoon, as well as 17 recoveries (an increase of two from Tuesday), and 571 negative tests performed (an increase of 8 from yesterday).

Man claiming to have COVID-19 coughs on officers

On Tuesday, April 28, Brandon McCaslin, 38, of Dyersburg, was taken into custody by officers of the Dyersburg Police Department for resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest as well as aggravated assault and false report. McCaslin was also served an additional warrant Wednesday evening, April 29, for a charge of retaliation of past actions.
