Winners announced from Community Project Fund’s annual Christmas drawing

On Dec. 21, two winners were announced from the annual Community Project Fund’s Christmas drawing. Winners drawn were Roger Long and Doug Singleteary. Prizes were donated from local businesses and individuals with community members eligible to purchase tickets to enter the drawing. With the funds received this holiday season, the Community Project Fund provided Christmas for 35 children through the Angel Tree Program.

Executive Order will further limit game attendance

With Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s issuing of Executive Order No. 70 on Sunday evening, attendance at local high school basketball games will face further limitations as the order restricts who can attend spectator sports and athletic activities in person.

New Executive Order lists limitations for gatherings, spectator events

On Sunday evening, December 20, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee delivered a statewide address regarding the recent surge of COVID-19 cases within The Volunteer State. Additionally, Gov. Lee signed Executive Order number 70, an order to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and preserve health care capacity by limiting gatherings and spectator events. The order also urges businesses to allow employees to work from home where possible.

COVID-19 vaccines arrive in Dyer County

Over the recent days, COVID-19 vaccines began to arrive in Dyer County at West Tennessee Healthcare – Dyersburg Regional Hospital as well as the Dyer County Health Department. The supply of initial COVID-19 vaccines from both Pfizer and Moderna were allocated to all individuals qualifying for Phase 1a1 in the State of Tennessee’s COVID-19 Vaccination Plan, such as medical workers and emergency personnel.
