Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 19

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Tuesday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,772 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 323 active cases with 4,367 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus was reported at 82.

Governor Lee signs Executive Order 74

On Tuesday, January 19, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed Executive Order 74, which extended certain provisions from Executive Order 70 pertaining to spectator sports and athletic activities, places of worship, funerals, and weddings, as well as encouraging Tennesseans to work from home, if possible.

Dyer County mask mandate extended through Feb. 27

On Tuesday, Dyer County Mayor Chris Young announced the county-wide facial covering mandate, which was set to expire at the end of the day, has been extended through February 27 at 11:59 p.m., unless otherwise lifted by the county mayor.

Dyersburg board OKs grant resolution, attorney invoices

The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen convened for the first time in 2021 Tuesday at 7 p.m. The meeting was held electronically. Newbern City Hall construction taking shape

On Tuesday, the construction of the new Newbern City Hall took a step upward as the support beams were put into place on the new building. The project, which was approved during last September's board meeting, is being constructed by Allison Contracting of Jackson and is estimated to cost the city $1,861,291.
