Trojans beat Hornets in penalty kicks for District 14AA title

For the second time in five days, 80 minutes was not enough to decide things between the Trojans and Hornets as it took 20 minutes of overtime and five penalty kicks before Dyersburg claimed a 3-2 win over South Gibson on Wednesday night in the District 14AA Championship at J.C. Sawyers Stadium.

Gov. Lee pushes return to work, economic recovery

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced the end of all federally funded pandemic unemployment compensation programs in Tennessee, effective July 3. “We will no longer participate in federal pandemic unemployment programs because Tennesseans have access to more than 250,000 jobs in our state,” said Gov. Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine approved for ages 12 and up

The Tennessee Department of Health on Wednesday announced it will begin administering the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 12-15 years. This is following the decision by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to recommend to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the Pfizer vaccine be made available to administer to children ages 12-15 years. The vaccine is safe and effective in preventing COVID-19. Prior to this decision, the Pfizer vaccine was only approved for individuals age 16 and above.

Dyer County falls to Hardin County in district title game

Though it took just over 24 hours which included a suspension of play from Tuesday to Wednesday, Dyer County fell to Hardin County for the third time in nine days as the Lady Choctaws (19-13-1) fell behind early on Tuesday before rains came pushed the conclusion of their 7-1 loss to the Lady Tigers to Wednesday in the District 13AAA Championship Game.
