Dyersburg High School honored members of its boys basketball team with an awards ceremony in the Terry Glover Gymnasium on Wednesday night. Members of the Trojans receiving individual honors were (from left) Tamarion Isom (Most Versatile), Malik McLin (Coach’s Award), Timarion Johnson (Leadership Award), Kewan Hubbard (Assist Leader) and Meshach Jones (Leading Scorer, Toughman Award).

Newbern Lions to host speaker from Services for the Blind

The Newbern Lions Club will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 27 at the Salvation Army building, 300-318 W. Market St. in Dyersburg. Guest speaker Samatha Spears, rehabilitation teacher assistant with the Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, will bring assistive equipment to show what the state offers to residents that qualify. DES Power Board approves 21-22 fiscal budget

On Wednesday at noon, the Dyersburg Electric System Power Board convened for their regularly scheduled meeting held inside the conference room of DES headquarters. All members of the board, as well as members of the DES Executive Management Team, were present. The board heard three items of new business including the proposed budget for the upcoming 2021-2022 fiscal year.

Dyer County Schools Director Cheryl Mathis welcomed teachers, principals, supervisors, and school board members to the event.
