Dyersburg State to reinstate mask requirements due to increase in COVID-19 cases

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) has announced that face mask requirements will be reinstated beginning Aug. 23 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in and around its surrounding communities. This decision comes after learning that resources and facilities are stressed at local hospitals and health care facilities due to the increase in positive cases.

NPD seeks vehicle theft suspect

On Monday, August 23, the Newbern Police Department issued warrants for a local man on charges of theft over $10,000 and theft over $1,000. Narreus Lakeith Jackson, 20, of Newbern is wanted by the NPD in connection to a vehicle theft, reportedly occurring on August 17, 2021 at 104 East Main St.

WAVERLY, Tenn. – American Red Cross disaster responders from across Tennessee and the nation are on the ground in Hickman, Humphreys and Dickson counties assisting survivors of the historic flooding on Aug. 21. The area received up to 17 inches of rain in 12 hours and is being called the deadliest flooding event in Tennessee history.
