Fran Daniels Moses of Dyersburg graduated Dyer County High School then attended UT Knoxville, where in 2003, she earned a Masters in Social Work (MSW) Clinical/Medical Social Work. Knowing she had a calling for the job, Moses returned home to Dyer County, offering support to her community.

Dyersburg State receives relief funding, offers short-term courses to benefit students

For over 50 years, Dyersburg State Community College has provided a strong, higher education foundation for Dyer County and the surrounding area. Established in 1969, DSCC offers a variety of programs and courses for students fresh out of high school or for those older adults who want a certificate to advance in their career. Additionally, with the rounds of HEERF (Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund), the college has used the funding to further assist their students.

The cheerleaders are currently selling prints of Richie Williams’ “Friday Night Lights” photo showcasing an aerial view of J.C. Three Oaks Choctaws fall to Humboldt in conference football action

Despite starting strong, the Three Oaks Choctaws suffered a disappointing loss to the Humboldt Vikings Thursday night losing 28-16 at Three Oaks Middle School. The Choctaws started the game with an Ethan Wray onside kick that was recovered by Colton Dominguez. Starting at midfield, Three Oaks’ offense quickly went to work through the air. Landon Daniels connected with Ian Shepherd on the first play of the game to move the ball inside the Vikings 20-yard line. Three plays later, Daniels found Wray wide open for a 16-yard touchdown pass. Shepherd added the 2-point conversion with a catch from Daniels. . ...

Dyersburg defender Anna Fisher (77) rushes a Jackson Christian player during soccer action on Thursday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium. The Lady Trojans got a penalty kick from Virginia Kerber in the 18th minute but JCS answered late in the first half with a goal. After a scoreless second half, the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The Lady Trojans return to action on Tuesday when they host South Side at 6 p.m.

My first experience in organized sports was playing soccer as a 7-year-old boy. I loved it, but I was small for my age. I was easily the smallest kid on the field, and I didn’t get a lot of playing time. The coach wasn’t mean or unfair about things. I think he was just afraid I’d get hurt if the ball ever hit me. No. 4 Central escapes Dyer County upset bid
