Free afterschool meal, homework help program begins Oct. 11

Bruce and Future City recreation centers will host a free homework help and dinner meal program starting Oct. 11 from 3-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. DHS class reunion rescheduled

With Dyer County High School's football program now in its fifth decade since the consolidation of Newbern and Trimble High School, Choctaw head football coach David Whittle has been a part of the football program in some way for more than half of the 50 years of existence. After playing football at Newbern Junior High and Dyer County High School, Whittle became the head coach at Newbern in 1996 before moving up to the high school in 2016, making 2021 his 25th year as a head coach in the system.

Injunction hearings for alleged Kitchen Crip gang members held

On Thursday afternoon, September 30, the 29th Judicial District Attorney’s Office presented injunctions on individuals alleged of being local members of the 87 Kitchen Crips. District Attorney General Danny Goodman and Assistant DA Andrew Hays presented cases on two individuals, Travon Moses and Damarcus Nelson.
