Local dialing plan to change on Oct. 24

Effective Sunday, October 24, 2021, individuals residing in the 731 and 865 area codes of Tennessee will be required to dial the full 10-digit phone number to make local calls. The change in the local dialing plan is a result of an order adopted by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) on July 16, 2020, which would allow individuals to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline by only dialing 988.

Mayors sign proclamation declaring October Domestic Violence Awareness Month

On Tuesday, October 12, WRAP (Wo/Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program) advocates converged with Dyersburg Mayor John Holden and Dyer County Mayor Chris Young, along with other various community leaders, at the Dyer County Courthouse to recognize the important work being done by the community to prevent domestic violence, support survivors of domestic violence, and hold perpetrators of such violence accountable for their crimes against the community.

Dyersburg hospital upgrades mammography technology to 3D

To provide the best care in women’s health technology and breast cancer detection, West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital has upgraded the previous 2D mammography machine to a 3D mammography machine. The 3D machine uses the same amount of radiation as the 2D machines but produces 90 times more images.

Trojans clinch region title with blowout win

With the outright clinching of the Region 7-3A Championship and homefield advantage in the playoffs on the line on Friday night at J.C. Sawyers Stadium, Dyersburg (8-0, 4-0) scored early and often to make sure those two things would become a reality, defeating Millington 51-0 to remain unbeaten.
