The Dyersburg Middle School boys (12-2) bounced back from last Thursday’s loss at Milan as the Trojans held off Union City’s fourth-quarter surge for a 40-33 win in the team’s final home game of the regular season on Monday night in Dyersburg.

The Dyer County boys basketball team beat the Millington Trojans in their last match-up at home, but failed to win Tuesday night at Millington Central High School falling short in a 75-60 defeat.

Trojans rally in final seconds to beat Ripley

Though Ripley led for much of the first 31 and a half minutes on Tuesday night on the Tigers’ home court, Dyersburg (7-2) battled back during the fourth quarter and ended the game on a 6-0 run which gave the Trojans a 47-44 win over the Tigers.

Local dancers perform in Thanksgiving parade at Disney World

Hardin and Dyer counties high-risk for chronic wasting disease, Crockett County now positive

NASHVILLE -- A deer harvested in Crockett County has tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD), according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). The CWD-positive deer was a 3 1/2 -year-old buck and changes Crockett County from high-risk to positive for CWD and Dyer County changes to high-risk due to its proximity. Lifeline Blood Services joins nation’s first emergency blood reserve

Facing an increasingly unsteady blood supply, Lifeline Blood Services has helped found a first-in-the-nation partnership to prepare Tennessee for emergency situations where blood needs are high. The Blood Emergency Readiness Corps (BERC) is composed of blood centers from across the nation that have committed to collecting extra blood units on a rotating, “on call” schedule. Community support: Cash Express donates to Matthew 25:40

With the support of Dyersburg and Dyer County schools, businesses, and residents, Cash Express of Dyersburg was able to supply a hefty donation to Matthew 25:40 on Wednesday, Dec 15. A mixture of toys, coats, children clothes, dresses, gift cards, and non-perishable foods were delivered to Matthew 25:40 by Cash Express Manager Jacque Bailey and Assistant Store Manager Dana Willard.

DES president says TVA fuel charge to increase in January

The Dyersburg Electric System Power Board met for their regular monthly meeting Wednesday at the DES Headquarters. All members of the board, in addition to the DES Executive Management Team, were present. DES President and CEO Steve Lane presented one item of new business, an uncollectable bad-debt charge-off, and announced the TVA fuel charge would increase beginning in January.
