DMS girls advance to Blue Suede Tournament Championship

The Dyersburg Middle School girls kept their unbeaten season alive on Monday night as the Lady Trojans (20-0) defeated Union City 37-12 in the semifinals of the Blue Suede Tournament in Medina. The Lady Trojans got off to a strong start, getting six points each from Lily Kate Jones and Aerie Quinn as part of a 20-point opening frame. Northview Lady Choctaws win WTAC Championship

The Northview and Three Oaks Middle School girls basketball teams met again Monday night in the West Tennessee Athletic Conference championship game. This time around it was Northview who claimed their first title on their home court in Newbern, beating Three Oaks 39-24.

Strayhorn returns to Dyer County as Lady Trojan head coach

When a rivalry renews, there are always stories to tell. Dyersburg and Dyer County meet on the basketball court for the first time since Feb. 5, 2010 and there are still people in both programs – namely DCHS head coach Derek McCord and DHS boys head coach Blaine Mahaffey – who have a history in this hoops rivalry.

DES Power Board OKs bid for bucket truck, selects pension auditor

On Tuesday, the Dyersburg Electric Power Board convened at the DES headquarters for their monthly meeting. DES President and CEO Steve Lane presented two items of new business, a bad-debt charge-off and the hiring of the DES pension auditor, in addition to one item of old business in reference to a bid pertaining to a bucket truck.

DPD arrests teens suspected for incident at restaurant

On Wednesday afternoon, January 26, the Dyersburg Police Department announced two 16-year-old Dyersburg juveniles were taken into custody in connection with an incident occurring on January 25 where multiple individuals were reportedly shot with projectiles from airsoft or SplatRBall guns at El Patio.

Sen. Blackburn meets with Dyer County elected officials

On Monday, January 24, Dyer County elected officials and local leaders welcomed United States Senator Marsha Blackburn to Dyer County. Sen. Blackburn met with local leadership in the meeting room at the Dyer County Election Commission and Trustees office to voice her support for local and state officials making strides to enhance economic and manufacturing growth in northwest Tennessee in addition to addressing any topics of concern.
