Dyer County holds off Dyersburg, advances to title game

While the two previous meetings saw the Lady Choctaws (21-6) playing with double-figure leads midway through the final frame, Dyersburg (6-20) kept it close through much of the fourth quarter before the Lady Choctaws pulled away to take a 54-44 win in the District 13AAA Girls Tournament Semifinals on Friday night in the Terry Glover Gymnasium at Dyersburg.

Kelly found guilty on extortion, theft charges

On Friday afternoon following a two-day trial, a local man was found guilty by a jury on various charges including extortion and theft. Charles ‘Sam’ Kelly, Jr., 52, was indicted on charges of theft over $10,000, conspiracy to commit theft over $10,000, extortion, and conspiracy to commit extortion.
