Local resident presents $2,500 check to DCHS band program in brother’s honor

Recently, local resident Stefania Wheeler, along with her daughter Bella, presented Dyer County High School band with a check for $2,500 in honor of Wheeler’s brother, Josef Gorzula. Through Facebook, over $2,300 in funds were raised, along with cash donations, in just seven days.

Convicted felon sentenced to federal prison for illegal firearm possession

Robert Lee Blackwell, 35, of Dyersburg, has been sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Joseph C. Murphy Jr., United States Attorney, announced the sentence on April 1, 2022. According to information presented in court, on December 25, 2018, officers with the Dyersburg Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Dyersburg. ...

Trojans fall in back-and-forth battle with Obion Rebels

Dyersburg opened district 13AAA play with a Monday matchup against the Obion County Rebels. Obion jumped out to a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the third inning, but slowly the Trojans chipped away until they took a one-run lead at the end of the sixth inning. However, the Rebels came back and scored three runs at the top of the seventh to win 7-5 over Dyersburg.
