Local man charged with second-degree murder, issued $1 million bond

Christopher Wayne Callins, 38, of Trimble, was issued a $1 million bond Thursday morning for a second-degree murder charge. Callins was issued the charge Wednesday evening following a joint homicide investigation between the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office and Trimble Police Department.

Two Lady Choctaws named All-Stars

Dyer County softball players Ava Ozment and Reagan Thompson played in one final game together on Tuesday. Both players were selected as all-stars following their senior season where they had a state tournament run. Ozment was named Class AAA West Miss Softball by the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association. Thompson was selected to the Class AAA All-State Team.
