Texas 4000 cyclists stop in Dyersburg

Participants in the Texas 4000 bike ride made a stop in Dyersburg Wednesday evening at Holy Angels Catholic Church. The Texas 4000 ride consists of Texas college students riding 70 days from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK, logging over 4,000 miles, to engage communities in the fight against cancer. Wednesday’s visit marked Day 19 of their 70-day journey. The congregation of Holy Angels provided the riders with a spaghetti supper. The Texas 4000 summer ride is the longest annual charity bike ride in the world. The route traveled through Dyersburg (the Ozark Route) is one of three routes beginning in Austin and ending in Alaska. All riders of each route began together in Texas before branching off to either the Ozark, Rockies, or Sierra routes. All riders will later reunite in Canada for the final 9 days.
