Arts Council’s production of ‘Harvey’ set for next weekend

The Dyersburg-Dyer County Arts Council is set to present their upcoming performances of ‘Harvey’, a 3-act comedy play by Mary Chase, on Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 at 7 p.m. as well as a Sunday matinee on July 24 at 2 p.m. All performances will take place at the downtown Newbern Depot.

During the extreme heat and drought of the summer months, farmers can quickly lose the battle of growing quality crops to the harsh elements of Mother Nature. In the battle, the farmers that keep a vigilant eye on their crops can win out in the end and gain a profit in order to feed their families. Even with advances in technology and resources, farming is more than meets the eye. Farmers know that Mother Nature has a major role in crop formation. Men wanted on murder charge in custody

On June 13, 2022, following a lengthy murder investigation, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office obtained a secret indictment from the June Dyer County Grand Jury charging Deshawn Alexander Gorman and Demauzay Jackson for first-degree murder.

Early Voting period has begun

The early voting period is officially underway for the State and Federal Primary as well as the Dyer County General Election. Registered Dyer County voters who wish to vote within the early voting period, July 15-July 30, may do so at the Dyer County Election Commission, located at 113 W. Market St. in downtown Dyersburg, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Election Day is set for August 4.
