Just two days after winning their second straight Region 7AA title on their homecourt, the Dyer County volleyball team punctuated their time on the court in Newbern in appropriate fashion, sweeping Millington in three sets in sectional action to advance to the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament for the second straight year.

Dyersburg bangs home four goals in district title win

Coming into Thursday night's District 14AA Championship match at Dyersburg High School, recent history had not been kind to the hosting Lady Trojans as far as district championship matches had went. Dating back to 2016, South Gibson had won six straight district titles with the Lady Trojans being the runner up in all but one of those.

4th annual Rides 4 Rugrats cruise, auto & bike show set for Nov. 4-5

The fourth annual Rides 4 Rugrats auto and bike show is scheduled to take place Friday, November 4 with a cruise in addition to the main show and swap meet occurring Saturday, November 5 at the Dyersburg Mall. Proceeds raised from the show benefit Angel Tree and other children’s charities, in addition to providing funding for graduating high school seniors enrolling in a trade school.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony held at Newbern City Hall

On Wednesday, October 12, the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. at the newly constructed Newbern City Hall, located in the heart of downtown Newbern. In addition to the City Hall staff, a large number of community members, supporters, Chamber personnel, and elected officials were in attendance.

Dyersburg wins battle of Trojans in overtime

In a game which saw only 28 points scored through 48 minutes, it came down to a missed extra point to decide things in the battle of the Trojans as Dyersburg (5-4, 3-1) was able to leave Millington with a 21-20 win on Friday night.
