Thomas B. Bowen Jr., age 93, passed away at his home in Sun Prairie, WI on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. He was born in Yorkville, TN the son of Thomas and Mamie Bowen. Thomas graduated from Trimble High School in 1947. He enlisted in the US Air Force, serving his country for 20 years with tours of duty in Korea and Europe. ...

Swift trial date set

On Tuesday morning, October 18, David Swift, accused of premeditated first-degree murder of his former wife, Karen Swift, appeared in court before Circuit Court Judge Mark Hayes. Swift’s attorney, Daniel Taylor of Jackson, asked the court to set dates for pre-trial and trail. Ultimately, Judge Hayes set Swift for trial beginning September 11, 2023.

TSSAA releases new classification numbers for 2023-25 cycle

Just two years after reclassification put both Dyer County and Dyersburg in the same classification in several of their sports, the TSSAA released new classification figures for the upcoming 2023-25 cycle.

Lady Choctaws overcome pesky Greeneville to advance to state quarterfinals

The Lady Choctaws became the first team to advance in the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament on Tuesday but it took four sets to dispatch a devilishly pesky Greeneville team as Dyer County won the opening round match in four sets.
