Northview gets split in home opener against Black Oak

After breast cancer: Survivor Tiffany Felkner urges for self-advocacy

Dyersburg resident Tiffany Felkner is a breast cancer survivor, a devoted wife, and a mother of three grown adults with children of their own. She works at Dyersburg State Community College as an assistant in the Arts and Science Department. Felkner described an active lifestyle with her family before a life-altering diagnosis.

Conversations about breast cancer: Amy Roberts stays optimistic after diagnosis

Amy Roberts, originally from Southaven, Mississippi, moved to Dyer County in 2014 with her husband, Ricky Roberts, and her two children, Brynden and Allexys. Describing her family, Amy said they are loving, supporting, and very involved. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Roberts spoke with the State Gazette about her journey in fighting breast cancer so she can be active with her family once more.

Collection Week set for Operation Christmas Child

In an effort to share God’s love with children worldwide, Samaritan’s Purse, organizers of the annual Operation Christmas Child initiative, recently announced the week of November 14, 2022 as this year’s Collection Week. On a local level, the Dyer County collection site will have a new home beginning this year, as the site has been moved from Church Grove Baptist Church in Newbern to First Presbyterian Church/Christ Classical Academy in Dyersburg.

DPD, DFD receive cooperative explosives entry training

On Thursday, October 27, the Dyersburg Police Department and Dyersburg Fire Department received training in explosive entry techniques used by the Dyersburg Police Special Response Team. The explosives simulation training was staged at a condemned house located on the corner of Forrest and 1st Street, where many emergency response teams observed the training.

Buchanan named Most Valuable Choctaw

On Thursday, October 27, Dyer County High School senior Brooke Buchanan was named this year’s Most Valuable Choctaw at a ceremony held inside the DCHS Theater. Buchanan was one of five senior students nominated for the honor, along with fellow classmates Seth Baker, Connor Liddell, Landon Liddell, and Luke Williams.
