History of Dyer County Railroads to be presented Jan. 29 at the Newbern Depot Museum

The history of Dyer County's railroads will be the subject of a Dyer County Bicentennial event on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at 2 p.m., in the Newbern Depot. The Dyer County Historical Society is offering monthly events as part of Dyer County’s 200th-anniversary celebration. Recent events include a lecture by Dyer County Historian, Earl Willoughby and field trips to the site of the old logging town of Mengelwood and a visit to the Bogota Community Center.

UTM to host online ACT super-score skill-up workshops

Highly pathogenic avian influenza detected in West Tenn. poultry flock

(TN FARM BUREAU) — The Tennessee State Veterinarian is reporting a detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a commercial broiler chicken flock at a farm in Weakley County. Following a sudden spike in bird deaths, lab tests confirmed the presence of H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza. HPAI is a highly transmissible disease known to be deadly for domesticated fowl.
