Ms. Nancy Pleasant Taylor, passed away at her daughters residence in Paris, TN Friday June 23, 2023. She was born January 20, 1948 in Dyersburg, TN to William & Ruth Tibbs Pleasant. Over the years, she owned the Jack N Box Daycare and The Thimble Fabric Store in Paris, TN, worked for Tennessee State Parks at the Paris Landing Golf Course and was an assistant to former Tennessee governor, Ned McWherter. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and assisting the elderly. Her favorite activities included reading and thrifting.

DOE grants $9.2B conditional loan for Tennessee BlueOval plant

After helping lead the Lady Trojans back to the Glass House in Murfreesboro for the first time in almost a decade, Dyersburg sophomore Joya Crawford has been named the State Gazette Girls Basketball Offensive Player of the Year for the 2022-23 school year.

The last trip home

For an estate sale which will precede the placing the house on the market. The family home for the last 55 years or so. Where we have all been able to “come home”, to be greeted by our last remaining parent, who had lived there alone the last 12 years, maintaining that place we all still wanted to visit...

Dyer County assistant Hinson named new Choctaw Baseball head coach

As the pre-dead period part of the summer came to a close on Friday, so did the search for a new head coach for the Dyer County baseball team. The search committee didn’t have to look far for a viable candidate to fill the vacancy as Choctaw assistant coach Derek Hinson has been promoted and will be the new head coach for the Dyer County Baseball program.

State Gazette Boys Basketball Offensive Player of the Year: Dyer County’s Marcus Martin

As one of the key cogs to a Choctaw basketball team which swept through the regular season district schedule to the District 13AAA regular title this past season, Dyer County junior Marcus Martin has been named the Boys Basketball Offensive Player of the Year for the 2022-23 athletic school year.
