Dyer County’s citizens are concerned with the recent rise in crime in the county. According to F.B.I. statistics from 2020, violent crime in Dyersburg is up. Although law enforcement has captured perpetrators, a fresh string of armed robberies and gun crimes have put residents and businesses on edge. Addressing concerns on a fact-finding and listening tour, U.S Attorney Kevin Ritz, the chief federal law enforcement officer of the West Tennessee district made a stop in Dyersburg on Thursday, August 24, 2023, along with Assistant U.S. Attorney Hillary Parham, from the Jackson, Tennessee office.
