Veterans’ Museum hosts 2023 Ladies’ Fall Luncheon

The Veterans’ Museum held its 19th annual Ladies Fall Luncheon and Fashion Show on Thursday, October 19. Over 60 people attended as guests and were served a plated meal by local ‘celebrity’ waiters Ronnie Roberts-Head Waiter, Chris Hurt, Dennis McCaslin, Justin Meeks, Ray Nolen, James Smith, Greg Summar, Isaac Weston, and Jonathan Wheeler. Vox Prop members provided much of the food.

Dyersburg State plans flag fundraiser to honor local veterans

Dyersburg State Community College will host a Veterans Day flag fundraiser to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. A contribution of $25 will ensure that a flag is displayed Nov. 10-13 on the lawn of the Dyersburg campus in honor of a veteran you know. DSCC will mark each flag in honor of her or his service. All proceeds from the fundraiser will help provide scholarship awards for future veteran and military-affiliated students. The deadline to participate is November 8, 2023...

After winning their final game of the 2023 season on the west side of the state, Dyersburg’s girls soccer team heads east for the TSSAA Class AA State Tournament on Tuesday as the Lady Trojans will open the single-elimination bracket play on Wednesday morning against Greeneville.

Shooting results in 15-year-old charged with multiple felonies

Dyersburg Police Department [DPD] charged a 15-year-old Dyersburg juvenile with six counts of felony reckless endangerment stemming from a shooting yesterday, October 23, around 3:30 p.m. DPD responded to the area of Hornbrook Street after being alerted by a Flock Safety Raven gunshot detection device of gunshots in the area. Officers arrived and discovered that a house had been struck by gunfire.

Dyer County Insurance Committee meets to discuss on-the-job injury settlement

In a Tuesday morning, October 24, meeting, the Dyer County Insurance Committee discussed an on-the-job injury suit stemming from a 2017 incident involving now-retired county employee Gayle Rankin. During the aftermath of a storm, when County Clerk Dianne Moore’s offices were being moved to the fairgrounds, Rankin tripped over an exposed cable, receiving significant injuries.
