Four local players selected to play in Sports Plus West Tennessee All-Star Football Game

With the 2023 TSSAA Football Season coming to a close this weekend with championship game action across the state in Chattanooga, four local seniors will have one more game in their high school careers as they have been selected to participate in the Sports Plus West Tennessee All-Star Football Game on Friday at Crockett County High School.

Multiple Choctaws named to Region 7-4A All-Region Team

With the 2023 football season over for the teams in Region 7-4A after Haywood’s semifinal elimination last week at Pearl Cohn, the region has named its annual honors which included a dozen Dyer County Choctaw players who received individual honors.

The 32nd annual Newbern Christmas Parade rolled down Main Street on Thursday evening, November 30. With over 117 official entrants signed up, the parade included an eclectic spectacle of floats, horses, dogs, marching flag bearers and bands, the Grinch, Santa and his reindeer, and a variety of floats from businesses, schools, churches, non-profits, and civic groups. Fire, police, and rescue organizations joined in the line, and so did drivers and passengers of vehicles decked with boughs of holly or lights.

Joy Allen Stafford Joy Allen Stafford, 81, died of natural causes on November 17, 2023 at Dyersburg AHC Nursing Home. Joy was born on November 14, 1942 in Gary, IN to the late Lyman C Allen and Damon H Allen. She graduated from Dyersburg High School and moved to California in 1960.
