In what we could call “The Starbucks’s Era,” we drink so many variations of coffee drinks, and the choices seem almost limitless. We might not have a Starbucks in this town, but we’ve got specialty coffee shops to fill that void.

Christ Classical Academy holds science fair: logical experiments, practical results

Christ Classical Academy in Dyersburg held a middle school science fair on Thursday, November 30, at the school. Entrants were judged on the scientific method and the presentation of their process and results.

New trial date, venue announced in David Swift case

The trial for David Swift, 55, has been moved to a later date. Swift’s trial was initially scheduled for January 2024, Dyer County District Attorney General Danny Goodman has confirmed the trial has been moved to May 28, 2024. Additionally, the venue of the trial has been moved to Weakley County. Swift’s attorney, Daniel Taylor, initially expressed concerns about Swift receiving a fair trial in Dyer County. At the time, Circuit Court Judge Mark Hayes ruled not to move the venue. Goodman says the trial is expected to last up to two weeks. Swift is on trial for the 2011 murder of his late wife, Karen Swift.

15-year-old charged with possessing multiple firearms

On Saturday, December 2, 2023, the Dyersburg Police Department charged a 15-year-old with possessing multiple stolen firearms after following up on a burglary. The guns were stolen from an individual on November 29, in Dyersburg. The firearms recovered were an AR-15-style pistol, an SKS, and an AK-47. Also seized were large capacity magazines containing over 60 rounds of ammunition. The juvenile was ordered to be held in detention by Dyer County Juvenile Court pending a detention hearing.

Christmas Village to light up Sorghum Valley this Thurs.-Sat.

Get out your coat and hat and prepare to make a drive to the Dyer County Fairgrounds for this year’s Sorghum Valley Christmas Village. Opening night is this Thursday, December 7. The village will welcome visitors from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. These hours will continue through Saturday, December 9.
