Dyer County’s boys basketball team traveled to Union City on Tuesday night and returned from the Obion County seat with a 65-60 win over the Tornadoes to stay unbeaten on the year. Four-hundred pounds in a cardboard boat? Northview Middle School’s Kayak contest

On a chilly, blustery Monday morning this week, Northview Middle School Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Instructor Mike French and a seventh grade went kayaking on choppy waters—in the pond at Oakview Links Golf Course in Newbern. Each kayak held 400 pounds of sandbags and proved that the lessons students learned about water displacement and buoyancy. Amazingly, the crafts were made of cardboard, and each passed the test.
