Courthouse protector and greeter Officer Larry Shawver to retire from the Sheriff’s office

A familiar face at the Dyer County Courthouse, Officer Larry Shawver with the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office is retiring. On Wednesday morning, December 13, local leaders, colleagues, and well-wishers came together in the Election Commission building to fete a man whose smile has greeted courthouse visitors and who, for years, has kept the courthouse safe for judges, attorneys, and citizens.

DPD officer terminated, alleged to have committed assault, official oppression, and the fabrication of government records

In a statement released by the Dyersburg Police Department, Chief Steve Isbell reported: “The Dyersburg Police Department launched a review into the actions of Dyersburg Police Officer David Ozment following the arrest of an individual on September 30th, at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg. Per departmental policy, reviews are conducted on all response to resistance/use of force incidents. The review included the body worn camera footage of the arrest, and the official police report submitted by Ozment. The DPD turned the findings of their review over to District Attorney General Danny Goodman, which resulted in the case being presented to the Dyer County Grand Jury by the DPD.
