The Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA) is an initiative from Volunteer Tennessee that seeks to recognize outstanding volunteers from each of Tennessee's 95 counties. Now in its 15th year, participating counties conduct a call for nominations and recognize one outstanding youth and one outstanding adult volunteer. City Board approves bids, hears of crime and unemployment rate decreases

The Dyersburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen met on Monday, February 5, for the first of two regular sessions for the month. The meeting saw approval of equipment bids and attorney invoices. Aldermen expressed appreciation for employees of the Street Department and all of public works, and the mayor announced lower crime rates, lower unemployment figures, and a Sanitation Department hotline.
