Obituaries for October 25, 2015

Dr. Robert Lee Harrington, 80, of Dyersburg, died Friday, October 23, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born Oct. 21, 1935 in Humboldt, TN, he was the son of the late Robert Brandon and Evelyn Draper Harrington, he was a retired OB/GYN. Dr. Harrington was drafted into the US Navy before starting his practice in Donaldson and then coming to The Women's Clinic in Dyersburg in 1966. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Chancel Choir and Men's Quartet. Dr. Harrington was an Eagle Scout, as was his son and grandson; the first 3 generation Eagle Scout in Dyer County. He was a Board member at McIver's Grant Public Library and was former chairman of the foundation committee. He was an avid Tennessee football fan.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church conducted by Reverend Ed White and Reverend Dell King. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The Harrington family will receive friends Monday, October 26th from 4:00 -- 6:45 pm at the church.

He is survived by his wife Iris Harrington; 1 daughter, Holly Duncan (Glen) of Los Angeles, Ca; 3 sons, Robert Lee Harrington, Jr. (Linda) of Memphis, Andrew Harrington (Angela) of Dyersburg, Chad Davis (Jennifer) of Dyersburg; 1 brother, Charles Harrington (Joyce) of New Jersey; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Duncan, Leah Harrington, Jessica Duncan, Clark Harrington, Meg Harrington and Ches Davis.
