PBS Kids' television show "Peg + Cat" characters made an afternoon visit to McIver's Grant Public Library in downtown Dyersburg at 1p.m. Wednesday, June 8.

Peg and Cat are the main characters of a math-based kids' program on the PBS station, broadcasted locally by WLJT in Martin, Tenn.

In each episode, Peg and Cat somehow find themselves in the middle of some real-life math problems in which they must think critically to figure their way out. Drawn against scenery illustrated on graph paper, this perfect pair of problem solvers utilizes basic arithmetic and geometry, patterns and shapes, and other critical thinking skills to resolve their crisis and have fun while doing so. The program promotes early mathematical thinking and problem solving for children ages 3-5.

The children of Dyer County were treated to a wacky Wednesday with Peg and Cat filled with coloring, crafts, games, and photo opportunities sponsored by the City of Dyersburg.

"This is just one of the many events we are able to bring to the library as a result of the city's generosity," Library Children and Youth Services Director Vanessa Cain shared gratefully.
