State Gazette to suspend paywall regarding Coronavirus information

Saturday, March 14, 2020

Due to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus, or COVID-19, the State Gazette will be suspending the paywall for stories on our website at www.stategazette.com, containing any and all public information regarding the virus. While we are an operating business, we feel it is our responsibility to continue to keep our subscribers, as well as non-subscribers, up to date on all information released in these uncertain times. Our intention is to continue to keep the public aware as more information regarding the virus becomes available, so by suspending the paywall all information will be available to the public.

  • Wonderful idea! However, you may want to explain what that means, namely that online access to information at stategazette.com will be open to everyone, even those who do not have a paid subscription. Great community service, since the confirmed number of positive cases of COVID-19 has risen by nearly 8,000 since 8PM last night, and the confirmed number of deaths due to COVID-19 has risen by nearly 400 since 8 PM last night. Thankfully, the number of people recovering from COVID-19 has also risen, though not nearly as fast as the numbers of confirmed positive cases and deaths are growing.
