Dyer County COVID-19 update for Aug. 6

The Tennessee Department of Health’s COVID-19 update for Thursday, August 6, reported Dyer County as having 593 total COVID-19 cases (TDH) includes confirmed and probable cases in the total case count). The report noted Dyer County as having 325 active cases, 261 recoveries, and 7 deaths due to the virus.

Additionally, the TDH said the county has 661 PCR positive test results and 5,528 PCR negative results.

In a comparison from yesterday’s numbers (Wed. Aug. 5), the total case count results increased by 14 on Thursday. Active cases were up 9 from Wed. to Thurs., and recoveries also increased by 5. The number of deaths remained at 7.

Statewide, Tennessee was reported in having 116,350 total cases, with 114,801 confirmed and 1,549 probable. Recoveries were listed at 77,558 (67 percent).

Total deaths in the state were reported at 1,186 (1 percent), with 1,147 confirmed and 39 probable.

A total of 1,633,642 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the state with 1,496,365 resulting in PCR negatives and 137,266 PCR positive results.

Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDC on Thursday was as follows:

- 5,109 hospitalizations (4 percent)

- 62,779 not hospitalized (54 percent)

- 48,462 pending (42 percent)

Shelby County (Memphis) continues to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 22,212, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 20,001.
