Dyer County COVID-19 update for August 17

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Monday, the department reported Dyer County as having 747 total COVID-19 cases, which contains confirmed and probable cases, as well as 379 active cases and 359 recoveries. The total number of deaths in the county due to the virus remained at 9.

Additionally, the TDH said the county has 814 PCR positive test results and 6,574 PCR negative results.

In comparison to the numbers reported by the TDH yesterday, Aug. 16, Dyer County increased by 10 in total cases and decreased by 9 in active cases. Additionally, recoveries increased from 340 to 359.

Statewide, Tennessee was reported having 134,744 total cases, with 132,397 confirmed and 2,347 probable in Monday’s update. Recoveries were listed at 94,812 (70 percent).

Total deaths in the state were reported at 1,387 (1 percent), with 1,345 confirmed and 42 probable.

A total of 1,868,761 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the state with 1,709,179 resulting in PCR negatives and 159,582 PCR positive results.

Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDC on Monday was as follows:

- 5,881 hospitalizations (4 percent)

- 74,115 not hospitalized (55 percent)

- 54,748 pending (41 percent)

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 24,798, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 22,005.
