Dyer County COVID-19 update for August 31

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Monday, the department reported Dyer County as having 964 total COVID-19 cases, which contains confirmed and probable cases, as well as 429 active cases and 525 recoveries. The total number of deaths in the county due to the virus remained at 10.

Additionally, the TDH said the county has 1,045 PCR positive test results and 7,957 PCR negative results.

In comparison to the numbers reported by the TDH yesterday, Aug. 30, Dyer County was up 12 total cases. The TDH also noted the county’s active case count decreased by 2, from 431 to 429. Recoveries increased by 14, from 511 to 525.

A comparison of Dyer County COVID-19 numbers reported by the TDH from June 30, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2020 is as follows:

Aug. 31 – 10 (increase of 5)

Statewide, Tennessee was reported having 154,933 total cases, with 151,250 confirmed and 3,683 probable in Monday’s update. Recoveries were listed at 116,864 (75 percent).

Total deaths in the state were reported at 1,754 (1 percent), with 1,704 confirmed and 50 probable.

A total of 2,197,316 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the state with 2,014,005 resulting in PCR negatives and 183,311 PCR positive results.

Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDC on Monday was as follows:

- 6,878 hospitalizations (4 percent)

- 91,270 not hospitalized (59 percent)

- 56,785 pending (37 percent)

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 27,120, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 23,474.

In the counties neighboring Dyer County, the TDH reported the following results:

Crockett: 403 total; 132 active; 257 recoveries; 14 deaths

Gibson: 1,115 total; 460 active; 641 recoveries; 14 deaths

Lake: 837 total; 59 active; 776 recoveries; 2 deaths

Lauderdale: 725 total; 236 active; 477 recoveries; 12 deaths

Obion: 829 total; 289 active; 532 recoveries; 8 deaths
