Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 5

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Tuesday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,407 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 379 active cases with 3,951 recoveries/inactive cases.

The total number of deaths due to the virus increased to 77.

TDH also reported Dyer County as having 3,501 PCR positive cases and 18,696 PCR negative cases.

TDH COVID-19 Dyer County Data Dashboard:

The TDH launched a new COVID-19 website, https://covid19.tn.gov, which helps streamline and simplify some of the most frequently requested COVID-19 data. The site, which can be accessed for both desktop and mobile users, offers dashboards and daily reports with state and county-level information including case counts, hospitalizations and tests conducted.

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, the numbers reflected were those from the previous day, Jan. 4.

Dyer County was listed as having 85 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. New active cases from Jan. 3 to Jan. 4 increased by 9.

The website also lists case counts and daily case rates from the following time periods:

- Most recent 7 days (Dec. 29, 2020 – Jan. 4, 2021)

230 case count; 88.4 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Most recent 14 days (Dec. 22, 2020 – Jan. 4, 2021)

403 case count; 77.5 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Previous 14 days (Dec. 8, 2020 – Dec. 21, 2020)

534 case count; 102.7 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Total (March 5, 2020 – Jan. 4, 2021)

4,368 case count; 38.6 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

Additionally, the website reported Dyer County has averaged 53 tests per day (142.6 tests per 100,000 residents) over the past 7 days.

The average positive percentage of tests, over the most recent 7 days, was 28.3 percent.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, on Tuesday, Tennessee was reported having 617,649 total cases, with 537,128 confirmed and 80,521 probable. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 539,207 (87 percent).

Total deaths in the state were reported at 7,267 (1 percent), with 6,241 confirmed and 1,026 probable.

Under laboratory testing, the results were as follows:

- Test Type: PCR

620,389 positive; 5,066,078 negative; 5,686,467 total

- Test Type: Antigen

86,762 positive; 579,701 negative; 666,463 total

Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDH on Tuesday was as follows:

- 14,835 hospitalizations (2 percent)

- 217,669 not hospitalized (35 percent)

- 385,145 pending (63 percent)

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 69,666, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 63,708.

Other Tennessee counties that have surpassed the 10,000 total case mark are Knox (Knoxville) at 34,448, Hamilton (Chattanooga) at 30,317, Rutherford (Murfreesboro) at 29,823, Williamson (Franklin) at 19,037, Sumner (Hendersonville/Gallatin) at 16,501, Wilson (Lebanon) 13,118, Montgomery (Clarksville) 12,263, Sullivan (Blountville/Bristol) 11,377, Washington (Jonesborough/Johnson City) 10,849, and Blount (Maryville) at 10,494.

In the counties neighboring Dyer County, the TDH reported the following results:

Crockett: 1,713 total; 159 active; 1,522 recoveries/inactive; 32 deaths

Gibson: 5,218 total; 491 active; 4,632 recoveries/inactive; 95 deaths

Lake: 1,470 total; 99 active; 1,356 recoveries/inactive; 15 deaths

Lauderdale: 2,726 total; 204 active; 2,493 recoveries/inactive; 29 deaths

Obion: 3,749 total; 283 active; 3,393 recoveries/inactive; 73 deaths

TDH COVID-19 Vaccine Report (updated on Jan. 1):

Tennessee has reported a total of 126,887 vaccinations, with 2,821 of those reported within the previous day of the issuance of the report. Of all of the vaccinations reported, the TDH listed Dyer County as having 1.67 percent of the Dyer County population partially vaccinated (1 dose of the vaccine).
