Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 11

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Monday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,582 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 408 active cases with 4,095 recoveries/inactive cases.

The total number of deaths due to the virus was reported at 79.

TDH also reported Dyer County as having 3,601 PCR positive cases and 19,063 PCR negative cases.

TDH COVID-19 Dyer County Data Dashboard:

The TDH launched a COVID-19 website, https://covid19.tn.gov, which helps streamline and simplify some of the most frequently requested COVID-19 data. The site, which can be accessed for both desktop and mobile users, offers dashboards and daily reports with state and county-level information including case counts, hospitalizations and tests conducted.

As of 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, the numbers reflected were those from the previous day, Jan. 10.

Dyer County was listed as having 86 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. New active cases from Jan. 9 to Jan. 10 increased by 40.

The website also lists case counts and daily case rates from the following time periods:

- Most recent 7 days (Jan. 4, 2021 – Jan. 10, 2021)

212 case count; 81.5 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Most recent 14 days (Dec. 28, 2020 – Jan. 10, 2021)

457 case count; 87.8 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Previous 14 days (Dec. 14, 2020 – Dec. 27, 2020)

466 case count; 89.6 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Total (March 5, 2020 – Jan. 10, 2021)

4,571 case count; 39.6 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

Additionally, the website reported Dyer County has averaged 70.29 tests per day (189.2 tests per 100,000 residents) over the past 7 days.

The average positive percentage of tests, over the most recent 7 days, was 23 percent.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, on Monday, Tennessee was reported having 657,396 total cases, with 567,602 confirmed and 89,794 probable. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 568,910 (87 percent).

Total deaths in the state were reported at 7,865 (1 percent), with 6,659 confirmed and 1,206 probable.

Under laboratory testing, the results were as follows:

- Test Type: PCR

655,633 positive; 5,224,227 negative; 5,879,860 total

- Test Type: Antigen

97,320 positive; 623,496 negative; 720,816 total

Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDH on Monday was as follows:

- 15,359 hospitalizations (2 percent)

- 226,239 not hospitalized (35 percent)

- 415,798 pending (63 percent)

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 73,322, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 67,992.

Other Tennessee counties that have surpassed the 10,000 total case mark are Knox (Knoxville) at 36,973, Hamilton (Chattanooga) at 32,715, Rutherford (Murfreesboro) at 31,744, Williamson (Franklin) at 20,470, Sumner (Hendersonville/Gallatin) at 17,473, Wilson (Lebanon) 13,903, Montgomery (Clarksville) 13,456, Sullivan (Blountville/Bristol) 12,071, Washington (Jonesborough/Johnson City) 11,482, Blount (Maryville) at 11,203, Maury (Columbia) 10,494, and Sevier (Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) 10,001.

In the counties neighboring Dyer County, the TDH reported the following results:

Crockett: 1,777 total; 152 active; 1,588 recoveries/inactive; 37 deaths

Gibson: 5,453 total; 460 active; 4,889 recoveries/inactive; 104 deaths

Lake: 1,516 total; 123 active; 1,374 recoveries/inactive; 19 deaths

Lauderdale: 2,860 total; 273 active; 2,556 recoveries/inactive; 31 deaths

Obion: 3,899 total; 342 active; 3,483 recoveries/inactive; 74 deaths
