Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 14

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Thursday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,664 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 342 active cases with 4,241 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus remained at 81.

TDH COVID-19 Dyer County Data Dashboard:

The TDH launched a COVID-19 website, https://covid19.tn.gov, which helps streamline and simplify some of the most frequently requested COVID-19 data. The site, which can be accessed for both desktop and mobile users, offers dashboards and daily reports with state and county-level information including case counts, hospitalizations and tests conducted.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon, the numbers reflected were as follows:

Dyer County was listed as having 87 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. New active cases from Jan. 13 to Jan. 14 increased by 22.

The website also lists case counts and daily case rates from the following time periods:

- Most recent 7 days (Jan. 8, 2021 – Jan. 14, 2021)

186 case count; 71.5 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Most recent 14 days (Jan. 1, 2021 – Jan. 14, 2021)

410 case count; 78.8 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Previous 14 days (Dec. 18, 2020 – Dec. 31, 2020)

414 case count; 79.6 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Total (March 5, 2020 – Jan. 14, 2021)

4,664 case count; 39.8 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

Additionally, the website reported Dyer County has averaged 56.43 tests per day (151.9 tests per 100,000 residents) over the past 7 days.

The average positive percentage of tests, over the most recent 7 days, was 19.5 percent.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, on Thursday, Tennessee was reported having 670,482 total cases, with 576,406 confirmed and 94,076 probable. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 596,883.

Total deaths in the state were reported at 8,232, with 6,909 confirmed and 1,323 probable.

Tennessee has issued 5,939,455 tests. As of Thursday afternoon, there were 2,964 hospitalizations.

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 74,761, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 69,030.

Other Tennessee counties that have surpassed the 10,000 total case mark are Knox (Knoxville) at 37,822, Hamilton (Chattanooga) at 33,776, Rutherford (Murfreesboro) at 32,471, Williamson (Franklin) at 20,903, Sumner (Hendersonville/Gallatin) at 17,850, Wilson (Lebanon) 14,171, Montgomery (Clarksville) 13,874, Sullivan (Blountville/Bristol) 12,293, Washington (Jonesborough/Johnson City) 11,674, Blount (Maryville) at 11,537, Maury (Columbia) 10,746, Bradley (Cleveland) 10,500, and Sevier (Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) 10,243.

TDH COVID-19 Vaccine Report (updated on Jan. 11):

Tennessee has reported a total of 271,575 vaccinations, with 11,121 of those reported within the previous day of the issuance of the report.

For Dyer County, it was reported 3.83 percent of the population has received one dose of the vaccine, while 0.57 of the population has received their second dose.
