Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 20

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Wednesday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,786 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 293 active cases with 4,410 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus was reported at 83.

TDH COVID-19 Dyer County Data Dashboard:

The TDH launched a COVID-19 website, https://covid19.tn.gov, which helps streamline and simplify some of the most frequently requested COVID-19 data. The site, which can be accessed for both desktop and mobile users, offers dashboards and daily reports with state and county-level information including case counts, hospitalizations and tests conducted.

As of 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the numbers reflected were as follows:

Dyer County was listed as having 87 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. New active cases from Jan. 19 to Jan. 20 increased by 14.

The website also lists case counts and daily case rates from the following time periods:

- Most recent 7 days (Jan. 14, 2021 – Jan. 20, 2021)

144 case count; 55.4 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Most recent 14 days (Jan. 7, 2021 – Jan. 20, 2021)

354 case count; 68 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Previous 14 days (Dec. 24, 2020 – Jan. 6, 2021)

399 case count; 76.7 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Total (March 5, 2020 – Jan. 20, 2021)

4,786 case count; 40.1 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

Additionally, the website reported Dyer County has averaged 60 tests per day (161.5 tests per 100,000 residents) over the past 7 days.

The average positive percentage of tests, over the most recent 7 days, was 15.7 percent.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, on Wednesday, Tennessee was reported having 694,291 total cases, with 593,314 confirmed and 100,977 probable. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 633,428.

Total deaths in the state were reported at 8,556, with 7,134 confirmed and 1,422 probable.

Tennessee has conducted a total of 6,078,484 tests. As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 2,653 hospitalizations.

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 77,157, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 71,578.

Other Tennessee counties that have surpassed the 10,000 total case mark are Knox (Knoxville) at 39,306, Hamilton (Chattanooga) at 35,049, Rutherford (Murfreesboro) at 33,516, Williamson (Franklin) at 21,679, Sumner (Hendersonville/Gallatin) at 18,454, Montgomery (Clarksville) 14,719, Wilson (Lebanon) 14,622, Sullivan (Blountville/Bristol) 12,736, Blount (Maryville) at 12,146, Washington (Jonesborough/Johnson City) 12,010, Maury (Columbia) 11,079, Bradley (Cleveland) 10,934, Sevier (Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) 10,589, and Putnam (Cookeville) at 10,001.

TDH COVID-19 Vaccine Report (updated on Jan. 18):

Tennessee has reported a total of 370,895 vaccinations, with 6,333 of those reported within the previous day of the issuance of the report.

For Dyer County, it was reported 4.95 percent of the population has received one dose of the vaccine, while 0.68 of the population has received their second dose.
